Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Western Ontario and Director of Engineering Studies with the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction. Slobodan Simonovic has thirty years of research, teaching and consulting experience in water resources systems engineering. He teaches courses in civil engineering systems and water resources systems. He has been invited to present special courses for water resources professionals in many countries around the world, most recently in Istanbul. His primary research interest focuses on the application of systems approach to management of complex water and environmental systems. Most of his work is related to the integration of risk, reliability, uncertainty, and optimization in hydrology and water resources. His expertise by subject matter includes: Systems modeling; Risk and reliability; Water resources and environmental systems analysis; Computer-based decision support systems development; Water resources education and training. His work by topical area involves: Reservoirs; Flood control; Hydropower energy; Water supply; Operational hydrology; Climatic change.
