Naomi Klein tear gassed
1/3: News from the COP15 in Copenhagen: Just was VJing in "Christiana", a zone free from police activity since the late 60s, and Naomi Klein had just finished a speech, when we all got tear gassed. We had to leave the tent where this was happening, and dogs, helicopter, and police with lights were all around.
2/3: We basically had to all leave the party, pack up our stuff in 3 minutes and go. We had been warned for a while that the police was outside, so actually we were supposed to play at another party at 11pm, but the organisers said on the mic that the police being there, we wouldn’t go out, and staying in the tent was safe – and violent free guaranteed.
3/3: Naomi Klein’s discourse was about doing a non violent protest on Wednesday. Basically the agreement – if any – is likely to be not enough to have an impact fast enough on the planet. The only reasonable thing I heard so far is the recommendation from a leader of the G77, Lumumba, from Sudan: 52% emission cuts by 2…017, 65% by 2020, 83% by 2030. It doesn’t seem likely to happen.
